How we write and check the guides on this site, and how to tell us if something is wrong.
Who writes our guides
Service and location pages are written by the Pool Water Penguin Team, the people who run Pool Water Penguin. Guides are written and reviewed by Joe Lambert, our Pool Water Expert & Enthusiast, and carry that byline.
What we write about
Practical questions people ask before a water delivery: how many gallons a pool holds, whether a truck or a garden hose makes more sense, and what to do once the water is in. We write for homeowners, not for the trade, and we say so when a hose is the better choice.
Sources we use
- Public health guidance, such as the CDC's Healthy Swimming pages and state health department pool standards, for water chemistry figures.
- Government reference data, such as U.S. Geological Survey conversion factors, for volume maths.
- Practical points like hose reach, truck access and scheduling are given as typical ranges, and we confirm them for your property before anything is booked.
Each guide lists the sources its figures were checked against, with links, at the end of the page.
How we show numbers
- We don't publish prices. After you send your details you see an estimate, labelled as one; it is not an offer. Your exact delivered price comes with your quote.
- Truck sizes, hose reach, fill times and pool volumes are typical figures. Trucks, equipment and pools vary, so we give ranges rather than single numbers.
- Water chemistry targets are general guidance. Your pool builder, plasterer, equipment manufacturer or a pool professional may specify different numbers, and theirs come first. Nothing on this site is professional or medical advice.
Dates
Each guide shows the date it was first published and the date it was last reviewed. We change the "last reviewed" date only when the page's figures have been checked again.
Photos
Photos on this site are illustrative; they do not show a specific customer's job.
What you won't find here
We don't publish customer reviews, ratings or testimonials on this site, and we don't name or compare other companies.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, send us a message with the page and what looks wrong. If we agree, we fix the page and update its review date.
