Commercial pool water delivery for HOA, hotel, swim club and water park pools

A community pool fill is a bigger job than a backyard one in every way. A 150,000-gallon HOA pool is 19 to 25 tanker loads, a seasonal opening has an inspection date on the other end of it, and the board and the management company want one number and one person to call.

A delivery hose running along a side yard and through an open gate to the pool

We set up exactly that: our vetted local water haulers running multiple trucks on a schedule, one delivered price before anything is booked, and one invoice when the water is in.

Tell us the ZIP, the volume and the date you need to be full. A person comes back with the loads, trucks and price, usually within 1-2 business hours. Start my quote.

Who this is for

  • HOA and community association pools opening for the season or refilling after a drain and resurface.
  • Hotels, resorts and apartment complexes that cannot leave a pool empty for a week of hose.
  • Swim clubs and YMCAs with lap pools, dive wells and kiddie pools to fill on a deadline.
  • Water parks, splash pads and municipal pools with the largest volumes. Send the total gallons and we confirm in writing, before you book, whether local haulers have the truck capacity.
  • Pool management companies that handle openings for many properties and want one point of contact for water.
  • Pool builders and resurfacers who need a continuous fill on new plaster at a commercial site. See new pool first fill.

Loads and typical cost at commercial volume

Haulers price per tanker load of about 6,000 to 8,000 gallons. The per-load estimate on our pricing page is $250 to $600 for typical residential jobs. Commercial jobs are quoted individually: send the total gallons and the date, and the per-load rate for your job is confirmed in writing before you book.

Pool Typical volume Loads at 8,000 gal Loads at 6,000 gal
Small community or hotel pool 50,000 gal 7 9
HOA pool with kiddie pool 100,000 gal 13 17
Large HOA or swim club 150,000 gal 19 25
Competition pool or small water park 250,000 gal 32 42
Water park or aquatic center 500,000+ gal 63+ 84+

Loads are rounded up. At the residential per-load range those volumes run from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands, which is why we quote each commercial job individually, with the number of trucks and the schedule.

How a commercial pool fill works

  1. Scope. Tell us the ZIP, the total gallons (your pool operator or drawings will have it; the gallons calculator works for simple shapes), the date you need to be full, whether the finish is new, and the access: where trucks can stage, hose distance to each pool, gates and hours restrictions.
  2. Hauler and truck plan. We book our local hauler, or more than one, with enough trucks to hit the date. For new plaster the trucks cycle back to back. Loads per truck per day depend on the round trip to the water source, so the plan names the trucks, the loads per day and the start time for your site.
  3. One delivered price. Usually within 1-2 business hours, with the loads, trucks, dates and arrival windows. Held for 7 days. Nothing is booked until you accept, and there is no deposit.
  4. Fill days. Trucks stage on the street, parking lot or service drive and run hoses up to about 300 feet to each pool. Longer hose runs are priced in the quote at $20 per extra 50 feet.
  5. Completion and invoice. The fill stops at the level your operator sets. Payment is due after delivery, one invoice per job covering every load. Extra loads beyond the estimate are billed at the quoted per-load price and we ask you first; loads not dispatched when the pool is full are not charged.

The residential version is on how it works; the policies are the same.

Before the trucks arrive

  • Confirm the volume with your pool operator or the drawings. Rounding errors at 150,000 gallons are whole truckloads.
  • Stage the trucks. Identify where tankers can park legally without blocking fire lanes or resident parking. Tell us about weight limits on service drives and low canopies.
  • Walk the hose route to each pool. Gates, fences, stairs and pool decks. Standard reach is up to about 300 feet.
  • Have people on site. Someone from the property or the management company should be on site to open gates and confirm levels at the start of each day.
  • Coordinate with the resurfacer. For new plaster, the fill starts when the finish crew says so and does not stop. Get their start time in writing.
  • Book the health department inspection. Your local health department sets the opening inspection timeline for public pools; build that date into the fill date so there is time for water, circulation and chemistry before the inspector arrives.
  • Plan the start-up chemistry. Your pool operator balances the water after the fill. The after-the-fill checklist has typical target ranges.

A worked example

Take an HOA with a 120,000-gallon main pool and a 10,000-gallon wading pool, both freshly plastered, opening Memorial Day weekend. The resurfacer finishes Tuesday and wants water that afternoon. The county inspection is booked for the following Monday.

  • Total: 130,000 gallons, which is 17 loads on 8,000-gallon trucks or 22 on 6,000-gallon trucks.
  • Plan: two trucks cycling back to back from a hydrant meter about 20 minutes away, so a fresh load arrives before the previous one finishes. The wading pool fills first.
  • Time: each load unloads in well under an hour; the round trip to refill sets the pace. In this plan the two trucks run from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday. Your quote names the schedule for your site.
  • Price: one delivered figure for 17 to 22 loads, with the per-load rate named so the board can see what an extra load costs. One invoice to the management company after the fill.
  • Buffer: the fill finishes Thursday, leaving the operator the weekend to circulate, balance and brush before the inspection.

Coordinating with pool management companies

Most commercial pools are run by a management company, and we are glad to work through them. One contact sends the scope, gets the quote, accepts it, and gets the invoice with the property named on it. Companies opening several properties can send the whole list; we quote each site separately and schedule around hauler capacity and inspection dates.

Why boards and managers book with us

Every truck on the job comes from a local hauler that has shown us a current certificate of insurance and a bond. You get one delivered price in writing before anything is booked, one person who answers, and one invoice per job, which keeps the board packet simple. If a hauler misses a confirmed date we reschedule at the earliest slot or you cancel at no charge. We cover 50 large US metros; see locations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to fill a commercial pool?

Haulers price per 6,000 to 8,000 gallon load. The residential estimate is $250 to $600 a load, so a 100,000-gallon pool at 13 to 17 loads runs into the thousands. Commercial jobs are quoted individually, with the per-load rate confirmed in writing before you book.

How long does it take to fill a 100,000-gallon pool?

By truck, 13 to 17 loads, each unloading in well under an hour, with the round trip to the water source setting the pace. With more than one truck cycling, it runs over one or more working days depending on the refill distance; the quote names the schedule. A garden hose at 10 gallons a minute would take roughly a week.

Can you run more than one truck at a time?

Yes. For large volumes and new plaster we book back-to-back loads or multiple trucks so the fill is continuous. The quote names the number of trucks and loads per day.

Do you invoice the HOA or the management company?

Whichever you tell us. One invoice per job, covering every load, issued after delivery, with the property named on it.

Is the water safe for a public pool?

Haulers usually fill from a municipal supply such as a hydrant meter or water station, and we tell you the source if you ask. Chemistry, circulation and any health department testing before opening are your pool operator's job after the fill.

Can you fill a pool for a seasonal opening every year?

Yes. Tell us the property, the volume and the opening window and we schedule it with the same hauler where possible.

Other things we fill

Fast, continuous refills timed with your plaster or acid-wash crew.

  • Well-water homes

Spare your pump and well; avoid iron and sediment in a new pool.
